Henney Kilowatt
(1959-1960)

$48.00

The Henney Kilowatt was an electric automobile, introduced in the United States for 1959 and produced as a joint venture between electrical products conglomerate National Union Electric and the Henney Motor Company.

Capable of 60 mph with a 60-mile range, the Kilowatt was constructed making extensive use of parts from French automaker Renault’s compact Dauphine sedan, but with a unique propulsion system designed predominantly by two-time Nobel Award winner Linus Pauling and Victor Wouk, later recognized as the “grandfather of the hybrid-electric car”.

Ahead of its time, the Kilowatt was marketed primarily as being more pleasant and dependable than an internal combustion engine vehicle – consumer demand on that basis, however, proved insufficient in an era unconcerned with the broader costs associated with modern oil-based economies.
